James Moody and Kenny Barron Release 4A

Respected and versatile saxophone player James Moody has collaborated with legendary pianist Kenny Barron on a recent offering on the IPO Recordings imprint titled 4A.

4A features eight instrumental tracks of classic jazz painted with the colors of every level of saxophone from Moody and embellished with beautiful piano passages from the smooth and timely delivery of Barron.

Although Moody is known for his longtime work with jazz icon Dizzy Gillespie he has carved out his own niche with several projects and solo endeavors such as 4A. The New York Times put Moody's career into proper perspective by saying "As a musical explorer, performer, collaborator, and composer Moody has made an indelible contribution to the rise of American music as the dominant musical force of the twentieth century."

4A is filled with swinging jazz moments perfectly captured by the elite duo. Compositions from Monk, Henderson, Golson and others populate the session making it an instant instrumental classic of timeless jazz interpreted by two of the finest musicians actively making music today. "'Round Midnight" and "Bye Bye Blackbird" are two recognizable titles along with six other tracks that make this a round trip of jazz without a single lyric. The music does all the talking and it speaks loud and clear to all jazz fans.
