J Rawls & John Robinson (Jay Are) "The 1960's Jazz Revolution Again...."

J Rawls & John Robinson present their group Jay Are, an ode to not only Jazz Music, but the culture that inspired progressive social/political movements as well as a vast array of cultural exploration, in their release "The 1960's Jazz Revolution Again..." dropping on August 28th, 2009 on Polar/Groove Attack. Meshing the spirit of the 1960s, both J Rawls and John Robinson explore the genre of Jazz Music, as many would consider it to be the Grandfather of Hip Hop, while participating in a freedom which allowed various artists to come together, vibe out, and produce great music that will be studied for years to come. Musicians of the 60's also reacted to their social environment creating art and music that was reflective of their environment and culture, and both J Rawls and John Robinson continue that process as our current political and socio-economic times face much peril.

J Rawls, one half of the group Lone Catalysts & 3582, has also produced for the likes Black Star (Mos Def/Talib Kweli) for the song "Brown Skin Lady, " as well as producing for the likes of the Beasite Boys, J-Live, El Da Sensei, Wordsworth, Declaime and many others. More recently, J Rawls is responsible for two Liquid Crystal Projects, which garnered worldwide attention, and was a progression into meshing various elements of Hip Hop, Jazz, and Soul to form a cohesive and distinct sound. That catalyst is the foundation for the musical landscape of the JAY ARE project.

John Robinson, president of Shaman Work Recordings, as well as one half of the group Scienz of Life, has had a equally outstanding career w/ various solo projects as well as solid guest collaborations. His most recent album "I Am Not For Sale, " impressed various press outlets, tastemakers and djs across the world, while the official US release of John Robinson's project w/ MF DOOM "Who Is This Man?" further legitimized his stake in hip hop history. John Robinson has also worked with Talib Kweli, Madlib, Flying Lotus, Wise Intelligent, CL Smooth, Jneiro Jarel and many others.

Together, J Rawls & John Robinson's JAY ARE project will introduce a culture and sense of urgency and creativity that the 1960s brought upon the world, while bringing back an older generation to that time period and making it valid for the present. Their album "The 1960's Jazz Revolution Again..." is an education of the past that is relevant to our present times, while giving ode to a time period that flourished in political activism, progressive social movements, and cultural creativity. Both J Rawls and John Robinson strive to carry that same passion towards today's music and it is clearly executed in their group, JAY ARE.

JAY ARE "The 1960's Jazz Revolution Again...." is out worldwide and digitally on August 28th on Polar/Groove Attack.
