Mark Karan Debut Album, Walk Through The Fire, Out June 30

Mark Karan, lead guitar player for Bob Weir & RatDog, releases his debut abum, Walk Through the Fire, on June 30 on Quacktone Records, with DIG Music. Completed after Karan survived throat cancer, the record has a distinct Americana feel in its nod to country blues "a la Elvin Bishop", and the clarity and truth of Ry Cooder's best work. Add Karan's own psychedelic style and you've got a collection of music appealing to almost anyone.

The album features an outstanding cast of musicians, including Delaney Bramlett (in his first posthumous release), The Persuasions, Bill Payne (Little Feat), The Rowan Brothers, Mike Finnigan (CSN, Hendrix), Hutch Hutchinson (Bonnie Raitt), Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, Rod Stewart), Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, David Lindley), Jimmy Sanchez (Roy Rogers), and more. It also introduces "Jemimah Puddleduck" (JP), Mark's collaboration over the last decade with John Molo (Phil Lesh & Friends) on drums, JT Thomas (Bruce Hornsby) on keys, and Bob Gross (Albert King, Delaney Bramlett) on bass. JP is touring in 2009 in support of Walk Through the Fire, and will be making appearances at festivals and clubs nationwide.

Karan says, "I've spent my life playing with great musicians and helping many artists realize their musical visions. Post cancer I felt it was time to make my own statement and make good on my promise to finish my record. I'm thrilled to say that, with a lot of love, hard work and the help of some amazing friends, that's finally happened. Thank you for listening..."

Out of gratitude for his own survival, Mark is donating all proceeds from the song "Walk Through the Fire" to the http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org.

Walk Through the Fire is available June 30 in stores nationwide, at digital outlets everywhere (including Itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and Amazon), at Mark Karan & Jemimah Puddleduck shows, and on RatDog tour.
