A Song For My Father Set for Release on 429 Records

429 Records is announcing the release of an innovative collection of songs newly recorded by the sons and daughters of legendary musicians titled A Song For My Father. The 14 song set featuring artists such as Salvador Santana, Devon Allman, Gunnar and Matthew Nelson, A.J. Croce, Ben Taylor, Sarah Lee Guthrie and others offering up a moving interpretation of their fathers' classic songs. The gifted offspring offer a unique and intimate spin on familiar material made famous by their legendary dads in fresh new performances connecting great songs between two generations. Lovingly played by their children, A Song For My Father offers a rare insight into the songs and the people who created them as they've chosen tracks with a particular meaning. A Song For My Father will be available exclusively through iTunes in time for Father's Day care of 429 Records on June 2nd.

A stellar roster of performers are featured on A Song For My Father: Jen Chapin (daughter of Harry Chapin singing the classic "Cat's In the Cradle"); chart-rocking twins Gunnar and Matthew Nelson (who salute their dad, roots-pop icon Ricky Nelson); Carnie and Wendy Wilson (daughters of Brian Wilson and two-thirds of the multi-platinum group Wilson Phillips); fellow Wilson Phillips member Chynna Phillips (daughter of Mamas and the Papas founder Papa John Phillips); Spencer Gibb (son of the Bee Gees' Robin); A.J. Croce (son of Jim); Louise Goffin (daughter of hitmaking songwriting team Carole King and Gerry Goffin); Sarah Lee Guthrie (scion of '60s folk-rocker Arlo); Salvador Santana (son of Carlos); Devon Allman (son of Gregg); Adam Cohen (son of Leonard); and Ky-Mani Marley (son of Bob).

"Our father passed away in 1986; we were best friends, " notes Matthew Nelson. "We grew up with his music."
