Dave Brubeck & Sons Play L.I. Summer Festival

Jazz piano legend Dave Brubeck, along with sons Chris and Dan, play Friends of the Arts' 2007 Long Island Summer Festival at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay on Saturday, July 28. Planting Fields is one of Long Island's best venues for live music. Bring a picnic and enjoy the best of music and nature with family and friends. Kids 12 and under are free on the lawn when accompanied by a ticketed adult. The Brubecks are one of the preeminent names in both the jazz and classical musical worlds.

In addition to their internationally- renowned jazz careers, both Dave and Chris are well known contemporary classical composers. Dan's amazing talents on drums and Chris's highly acclaimed abilities on bass and trombone provide a wonderful rhythm section for their father, legendary pianist Dave Brubeck. Dave's long-time alto saxophonist, Bobby Militello, joins the family trio. Since the Brubecks' early musical forays back in the 70s, when they toured the world together and recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the family's collective talents and their ability to connect on a musically intuitive level have mesmerized audiences. Their virtuosity and joy of performing have brought crowds to their feet from the Hollywood Bowl to Carnegie Hall and to the world's great jazz festivals. Together Dave, Chris & Dan recorded Trio Brubeck on the MusicMasters label. This CD earned a Grammy nomination.

Upcoming performers in the L.I. Summer and Jazz Festivals include Herbie Hancock, Dave Koz & Friends (featuring David Benoit, Phil Perry and Kelly Sweet), Acoustic Alchemy, Jane Monheit, Ramsey Lewis.Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Webb, Indigo Girls, Rosanne Cash, and The Flatlanders.
