Sparkle Debuts on DVD 28th May

The glitter of success couldn't hide how they got there… On 28th May, Warner Home Video will release Sparkle, a tale of tragedy and triumph following three soulful sisters who rise out of Harlem to become music's hottest singing group in this rags-to-riches story of glitz, glamour and the high price of fame.

Made in 1975, Sparkle pre-dates the recently released Dreamgirls starring Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Hudson by over thirty years. The soundtrack features music composed and produced by the late Curtis Mayfield and is performed by Grammy -winning legend and Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. A cult classic, fans of this film have actually created an online petition to get Sparkle released on DVD which people have been signing since 2004!

Against the vibrant grooves of Curtis Mayfield, three divas explode onto the scene with off-the-hook harmonies and a sexy style that catapults them to stardom- but not every fairytale has a happy ending.

Academy Award -winning songstress Irene Cara (Fame, Flashdance), Lonette McKee (ATL, Round Midnight) and Dwan Smith play Dreamgirls-like siblings who skyrocket from tawdry talent shows to the glamorous life of the nation's top singing group. When success leads to excess, one sister's star will fade, while another's will sparkle.
