Young Jazz at the Cotton Club West

In keeping with Cotton Club West's mission to provide a platform for upcoming young jazz musicians, 27 year old saxes Aaron Fletcher, and smoky jazz vocalist Sheree Dunn, in a growing line of new jazz artist come to mind. Trombonist Isaac Kaplan, the youngest to artist to perform at the Cotton Club West, along with two Poly High star instrumental alumni Chris Darjany and Dustin Moore will kick off Cotton Club West's Spring Youth Concert Series.

Seventeen-year-old trombonist extraordinaire Kaplan, of Jazz A Big Band is making his second appearance at Cotton Club West, Long Beach California. He will perform April 14, 2007.

Kaplan, currently, a senior at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, is lead trombone in (Chris Stevens, Director) and principal trombone in Symphonic Winds and Symphony Orchestra, (Andy Osman, Director). He was principal trombone in the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (Michael Hall, Director), and was selected each year for the All-Southern California honor band and jazz all-star groups. He has performed in the CBDA/IAJE California All-State High School Jazz Ensemble for two years.

Kaplan received a full scholarship to Berklee's 5-Week Performance Program where he studied last summer with Phil Wilson and performed with the Berklee Rainbow Band.

The club has been given an exemption for that night and is encouraging young adults from 16 and up to take notice of the art form, be amazed by this young trombonist phonemenon, and support local jazz and Isaac's club debut.
