California New Years Shows

The Flaming Lips have teamed up with their friends Gnarls Barkley & Cat Power for a pair of year-end California shows that just may be the most memorable nights of the year. The Bay area show is confirmed for December 30th at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA. The Los Angeles New Year's Eve show will be at the Galen Center on the campus of USC in downtown LA.

The Lips are thrilled to share the stage with the universally loved Gnarls Barkley, this year's standout pop phenomenon whose debut album, "St. Elsewhere" has garnered tremendous acclaim. Wonder which band will be better dressed for the occasion... Look for the Deluxe CD/DVD package of "St. Elsewhere", released this week. Also on the bill, another Lips favorite, Cat Power. Her current album, "The Greatest" really is one of the year's... greatest.

In other Lips news, the new maxi single, "It Overtakes Me" will be released digitally on Tuesday, November 14th. It's currently available on 7" and CD EP in the U.K.

The Flaming Lips are one of three Oklahoman artists who will (most likely) have a street named in their honor in their hometown. Other artists include Vince Gill and 1930s-era jazz great, Charlie Christian. The properties will be located in the Bricktown area of Oklahoma City, OK. We will confirm shortly.
