Phil Ranelin Jazz Appreciation Workshops

Trombonist Phil Ranelin in conjunction with the Department of Cultural Affairs of Los Angeles, is presenting Jazz Appreciation workshops at Los Angeles area libraries and centers. During the month of November workshops will be held on pianist Hampton Hawes(Nov.13) and trombonist Thurman Green(Nov.20) at Baldwin Hills Library.

Future workshops will include Melba Liston and Horace Tapscott in December 2006. These workshops are free and open to the public in part with a Grant from the city of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Artist-In-Residence 2006-2007 Program. The workshops are focused on international Jazz legends who were born or based in Los Angeles, but who gained worldwide notoriety. Past workshops have included Eric Dolphy, Harold Land and Don Cherry.
