Bobby Ramirez Celebrates 25 Years as a Performing Artist

Jazz flutist, saxophonist, bandleader Bobby Ramirez performs with his band Pan Con Bistec featuring violinist Federico Britos on Monday, November 20th, 2006, at Manuel Artime Theater, Miami, Florida.

For many years, musician Bobby Ramirez has carefully crafted his artistic talent to mirror a colorful palate of distinct musical textures weaving effortlessly through a kaleidoscope of music and rhythm.

While his musical roots stem from his birthplace, Santa Clara, Cuba, having grown up in the United States (Miami, Florida) has enabled Bobby's talents to blossom within a grand multicultural environment. His style of playing music is equally rooted in Afro-Cuban traditions, also reflecting a tremendous diversity of Latin music and American Jazz.

From humble beginnings at age 14, he began learning how to play the saxophone, later taking an interest in playing the flute, guitar, as well as arranging and composing.

At age 16, while attending Filler Jr. High School, he wrote his first full big band arrangement for an 18-piece orchestra, as well as being a featured soloist and leading various small Jazz combos and big band ensembles at rehearsals and concerts.

He then continued his studies at Miami-Dade Community College, Florida International University, as well as individual private music lessons in a variety of styles from Jazz to classical flute. Since the late 1970's, Ramirez has taken his Jazz sound to many events throughout Florida and beyond.

Perhaps considered his trademark throughout his 25 year career as a performing artist, Ramirez has maintained an unwavering vision and commitment to performing both Jazz and Latin music with equal propensity; thus, helping to define the Florida Jazz sound, as well as breaking ground with a new Latin Theme entertainment concept he created called RITMO!PALOOZA.

Throughout his 25 year career, Ramirez has also been known to contribute his talent to many local Florida charities, volunteering at homeless shelters, and participating in many benefit concerts. Wrote Linda Novit, Sensacional Magazine, "Besides being talented and unique, Bobby is a warm, giving human being, involved in helping his community, especially the homeless."
