Berlin Jazz Festival 2006

The Berlin Jazzfestival is taking place from 1–5 of November at Haus der Berliner Festspiele, clubs A-Trane and Quasimodo, Konzertsaal Bundesallee der UdK, and movie theatres Babylon Berlin:Mitte and Delphi-Filmpalast. Highlights will include New Orleans' legendary musicians Allen Toussaint, Eddie Bo and the New Birth Brass Band. A visit "South of the border" to Austria's and Swiss' variegated musical output will range from Wolfgang Puschnig's Alpine Aspects to the Zen-like grooves of Nik Bärtsch's Ronin.

Jazz and film will form manifold alliances at this year's festival: there is Robert Mugge's New Orleans Music in Exile, Julian Benedikt's Play Your Own Thing receiving its premiere, a silent movie concert accompanying Lubitsch's Oyster Princess and a project based on (Flemish poet's) Paul van Ostaijen's Dada film scenario (1920) The Bancruptcy Jazz.
