by Laura Washington

Discover the influence of the rhythms of the African homeland on contemporary Latin Jazz with Candido Camero and an all-star cast as we celebrate his 85th year with a concert of Afro-Cuban music Wednesday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m. at the New-York Historical Society.

This all-star cast returns to the New-York Historical Society to continue exploring the influence of the rhythms of the African homeland on contemporary Latin Jazz. The concert features ageless Cuban-born Candido Camero on congas, and in celebration of his 85th year, will recreate great moments in the history of the genre as it evolved from Africa to Cuba to the United States. David Amram, wind instruments/percussion; Candido, congas; Jimmy Delgado, timbales; Edsel Gomez, piano; Paul Peress (band leader), drums/percussion; Bobby Porcelli, saxophone; Ruben Rodriguez, bass
