Nguyen Le, French-Vietnamese jazz star makes first major US tour with his Tiger's Tail Quartet (Nguyen Le, electric & acoustic guitars, electronics & computer; Art Lande, acoustic piano; Paul McCandless, oboe, english horn, soprano sax, bass clarinet; Patrice Heral, percussion & drums). October, 18 they played at Iridium Jazz Club, New York, NY. The Nguyen Le Tiger's Tail Quartet is on tour from October 14-26 and will visit 12 US cities. This was his only New York City appearance. Le is a recipient of the French-American Jazz Exchange Grant, which supports this collaborative project between French and American musicians.

Nguyen Le has been influenced by the multi-ethnic culture of Paris. His ability to blend African, Asian and American musical languages is evident in his compositions and in his unique and dynamic guitar style.

For this project, Le has created original music specially composed for the acoustic piano of ECM veteran Art Lande; the oboe, English horn, bass clarinet and soprano saxophone of Oregon mainstay Paul McCandless; and the spicy, ethnically tinged rhythms of French percussionist Patrice Heral. These world-class improvisers have a remarkable chemistry, which brings the repertoire to life each night.
