Jazz Festivals in France 2006

France has been a haven for jazz musicians since the musical style was invented. Though a signature American art form, it has enjoyed great repute and respect in France since its inception as the focus of festivals and events throughout the country. This year is no exception.

Jazz à Juan, Antibes/Juan-les-Pins, July 12-22
The 46th version of the Jazz à Juan festival in Antibes/Juan-les-Pins invites famous jazz artists and up-and-coming musicians to perform for 10 days in this beautiful beach community. Performances this year include B.B. King, the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band, Diana Krall and Tracy Chapman, as well as a special concert by reggae sensation Sean Paul on July 11 at Pinede Gould.. Held at the same time the Jazz à Juan Off Festival will hold secondary performances at the Terrase of the Eden Casino.

Jazz à Montauban, July 17-23
Jazz à Montauban held in the Midi-Pyrénées region of southwestern France is a yearly event that highlights world renowned jazz artists.

Nice Jazz Festival, July 19-26
The Nice Jazz Festival has enjoyed a solid reputation as one of the most exciting music festivals in the world since its inception in 1974, all set in the idllyic atmosphere of the Cimiez Gardens.

Jazz à Marciac, July 31-August 5
Jazz à Marciac is celebrating its 29th year with a Southern theme. Performances from South America, Africa and even New Orleans will highlight this festival that has become a must-see event for visitors to Southwestern France.

Nancy Jazz Pulsations, October

The Nancy Jazz Pulsations is a jazz festival in Nancy during which the city welcomes groups and singers of every variety. Concerts and performances are held in the Parc de la Pépinière, in the heart of the city, often outdoors. Reggae, blues and world music are also highlighted, along with opera, hip-hop and dub, and gospel.
