The Pink Ladies benefit concert

The Pink Ladies, small but mighty team consisting of Shawna Ellis, Erika Thomas and Danielle Leon are holding a benefit concert on Friday June 23rd, 2006 at Ottawa's premier house of blues, The Rainbow Bistro.

The Pink Ladies are just one of many local teams participating in "The Weekend To End Breast Cancer", a fundraising event where participants agree to raise a minimum of $2, 000 each to walk 60km over 2 days to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer treatment and research.

One-hundred percent of the donations raised at this event go directly to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, a registered charity that supports cancer services and world-class cancer research across Eastern Ontario.

For a minimum donation of $10 at the door you will be entertained by local band The Coggs who will get the crowd dancing to their unique style of blues driven rock n' roll.

"…B.B. King meets the White Stripes…" is how one fan describes The Coggs' electrifying sound. "The music isn't the main reason to come out, though" says team member Erika Thomas "the goal is to attract people to our function because of the music, but then deliver a powerful message about the fight for the cure…to raise awareness in the hopes that one day we can put an end to breast cancer forever."

An ambitious goal to say the least, but if successful in their fundraising commitment, The Pink Ladies will unite with thousands of other men and women to honour lives lost, celebrate survivors and through the funds they've raised, bring care to those who so desperately need it.
