Matell's new album

Matell Gets His Big Break Matell's first album, entitled This Is, What's Been Goin' On, is a salute album to Marvin Gaye; Billie Holiday; TuPac and other legendary performers. The first single released Eastern Trees has made members on myspace stand and take notice with its social tones and a strong hip-hop groove. Matell's MySpace webpage, has been viewed by over 20, 000 fans, as well as being downloaded 15, 000 times in less than two months.

The CD also contains remixes of songs like Love (A Brokeback Mountain Remix), the mid-tempo You Found Me, At My Worst and This Is, What's Been Goin' On. Internet Radio Stations are requesting singles from the disc., and at Commercial and College Radio Stations nationwide are also.

Matell was a featured performer in a tribute to legendary award winner Jazz singer Nancy Wilson at the BMA Music Awards. He was a Special Guest singer for singer/actress Minnie Foxx on her Los Angeles concert tour.

Matell was honored by VH1's Save The Music, he recieved 'Runner Up' for 'Song of the Year' for his lyrics to his songs We Will Survive and Eastern Trees. Matell is a trained Tenor singer, from legendary singer/songwriter Cydney Davis. Matell's an accomplished singer/songwriting, producer and performer who's publishing company VMR Productions/ASCAP just sign with Harry Fox Agency to handle the Mechanical Licenses for his 500 catalog of songs.

Matell joined an acting group in Los Angeles - where he can now be seen in the following films 'Bottoms Up' staring actor Jason Mewes and Director Kevin Smith, due to be released in Theatres. Then the family film 'Just For Kicks' staring actor Tom Arnold.

Matell can be seen in the Black Eye Peas's number-one music video 'Don't Funk With My Heart' he also appeared in Jay Z's Nokia Black Phone' and for Japan's very own men's deodorant spray 'Gatsby.' And then the MTV's Network spot 'Head & Body.' WOW! The titled track to Matell's disc This Is, What's Been Goin' On, was inspired by a familar song by Marvin Gaye called What's Going On, and Eastern Trees was inspired by one of Billie Holiday songs called Strange Fruit. Matell's vision is to write and perform and be inspired by the Legends that are no longer here with us. And to leave a legacy of his on for generations too come.
