Meddy Gerville: ’Jazz Amwin’

Pianist Meddy Gerville from Reunion Island announced the release of his new album Jazz Amwin featuring Grammy award winner Horacio El Negro Hernandez on drums, French bass player Dominique Di-Piazza, Jean-Marie Ecay on guitar and Meddy Gerville (piano, vocal).

This album perfectly illustrates Gerville's artistic quest of a fusion between jazz, its sophisticated harmonies, creative freedom and the swing and complex rhythms of Maloya, the "blues made in Reunion."

Born on Reunion Island in 1972, Meddy Gerville started music at the age of 14, he has played with Linley Marthe, Stphane Guillaume, and Louis Winsberg.

Horacio Hernandez born in Cuba has played with Carlos Santana, Michel Camilo, McCoy Tyner, Eddie Palmieri, and Richard Bona.

Dominique Di-Piazza has played with John McLaughlin Trio, Birli Lagrne, and Alex Acuna.

Jean-Marie Ecay is currently on tour with Billy Cobham, and has played with Didier Lockwood, Claude Nougaro, Richard Galiano, Eddie Gomez.
