On Wheels Benefit Concert

The Elks Lodge of Thousand Oaks, located at 158 N. Conejo School Road, will be the location of the 'On Wheels Benefit' concert, to raise funds for the Los Angeles Chapter of the MS Society, WYNGS.org and the Joseph T. DeVere Special Needs Trust fund on July 16, 2006

The Dina Gathe Band was inspired to hold this benefit concert for Joe DeVere when they heard about his day to day struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and his recent near fatal car accident. His long painstaking recovery, punctuated with many setbacks has caused the additional financial burden of overwhelming medical expenses.

The Dina Gathe Band headlines the 'On Wheels Benefit' concert performing her debut CD, "Bother Me"; Dina invites you to experience songs that are thought-provoking, energetic, fun, funky and edgy. Dina's straight-to-the-point lyrics and vocal moods shift playfully between straight-up in-yo-face rock, sarcastic life observations, and a fun, childlike sense of wonder as her guitar guides you musically through the journey. http://dinagathe.com

Additional artists performing:

Joe DeVere was thirty three years old when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis just six months after he married his wife Rosanna, June of 2001. In 2005 due to his MS, Joe had a near fatal car accident on Kanan Road that resulted in a serious L1 spinal cord injury, further exacerbating his rapidly progressing MS. Joe DeVere was honored by the County of Ventura several years before his diagnosis of MS for saving the life of a man and daughter who nearly drown while surfing. Joe an avid surfer, scuba diver and rescue swimmer before MS, did not hesitate to swim out to save a man and his daughter from the rip tides that were pulling them under. Joe DeVere served our country for seven years in the Coast Guard and was publicly honored for his heroism by the Ventura County Police Officers Association for his heroic efforts at a banquet held in his honor. Who we ask, will come to help Joe and Rosanna DeVere as they drown in financial need?

The "Joseph DeVere Special Needs Trust" is set up to receive funds for this event and future donations at Santa Barbara Bank and Trust, Westlake Village, CA., to pay uninsured medical expenses for Joe DeVere. Friends and family have donated a steady stream of funds however it "melts like snow on a sunny day" with many overwhelming, out of pocket medical expenses.
