Johnnie Proby: 'Life is Now'

Johnnie Proby, author of "Life is Now", is a passionate believer in the power of self-love: the source is which we need to draw from to be what God has created us to be. The Louisiana native delivered smooth sounds of jazz, gospel, classical and soul that brought every listener to a stand still. Mrs. Proby's rendition of the gospel classic 'A Change is Gonna Come' has been held as the song of hope to the Crescent City and the listening audience has been quite receptive. So much so, a Proclamation from Mayor C. Ray Nagin was presented to Johnnie Proby on the evening of her successful CD release party on May 5, 2006.

On Friday, May 4, 2006, Johnnie gave a compelling "motivation" seminar to the 7th and 8th grade students of Dwight D. Eisenhower Charter School in Algiers, Louisiana, that prompted the students to get up and take action. Her heartfelt performance at New Home Full Gospel Ministries, pastored by Prophet Robert C. Blake, Sr., on Sunday, May 7, 2006, earned her a standing ovation. "In recording this CD it was my intention to sing from my soul to touch the hearts of every listener, " Johnnie says. She has made quite an impression on all age groups and her music is like the bridge that closes the gap.

Unlike many new artists today, it is evident that Mrs. Proby has spent years professionally training her vocal chords. Her voice brilliantly reaches a wide scale of ranges and comes through as a sweet sound that awakens the spirit. The new CD 'Life is Now' is a soothing treat for the soul with songs that prompts the listener to sit back, close your eyes, and open your heart. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to Oprah's Angel Network Katrina Homes Campaign.
