The Rempis Percussion Quartet's new CD

On May 2nd, 482 Music will release The Rempis Percussion Quartet's Rip Tear Crunch, the group's studio debut and the 11th entry in the label's ongoing Document Chicago series. Founded in April 2004, The Rempis Percussion Quartet draws on a wide range of influences, including West African and Latin American rhythms, funk and free jazz, to create spontaneous music driven by unrestrained energy and a focus on ensemble motion.

Led by saxophonist Dave Rempis, a member of prominent Chicago-based groups such as Triage and the Vandermark 5, The Rempis Percussion Quartet features fellow Chicago scene veterans Anton Hatwich (Indoor/ Outdoor, Festival Quartet), Tim Daisy (Triage, Kyle Bruckman's Wrack) and Frank Rosaly (Fred Lonberg-Holm Trio, Ken Vandermark's Crisis Ensemble). The group will begin a 16- stop tour of the Midwest and East Coast in support of Rip Tear Crunch on March 29th.
