Dogwood from The Zak Perry Band

Riding the success of their December, 2004, release of “Somewhere in the Morning”, The Zak Perry Band, today, announced the release of their new CD, “Dogwood”. According to singer, songwriter and lead guitarist Zak Perry the CD is being released on the band’s own, new, independent label, “Dogwood Records”.

Several of the songs on “Dogwood”, including “Inside You”, “Something About the Dogwoods”, and the CD’s single “Mama”, have already been getting great crowd response at live shows. According to Zak the painstaking work of putting this CD together is starting to pay off, “I really think that, both sonically and musically, this is the best thing we have done so far.”

The past year has been hugely successful for The Zak Perry Band. The year started with the late 2004 release of “Somewhere in the Morning”, which has sold more copies than the band’s other three CD’s combined, and is now a big hit with digital music fans on iTunes, MSN Music and Yahoo! Music. Then, in April, the band hit the New Artist Radio ( www.newartistradio.net ) Top 40 Chart with “The Falling Down”, which went to # 1 along with the title track, “Somewhere in the Morning”. Capping off the band’s Top 40 Chart success was “I’ve Been Drunk on Sunday Morning” which hit the chart on December 5th, and has been there ever since.

Perhaps the crowning achievement of the band’s 2005 success was being voted #1 “Best Band in Austin” by users of BarStar-Austin.

To promote the release of “Dogwood”, the band has scheduled a series of CD Release Parties including a March 3rd show in St. Louis and March 24th at the famous Austin landmark, the Saxon Pub.

With the addition of the new cd “Dogwood” The Zak Perry Band is on the verge of becoming recognized as a staggering musical force, something their fans have been saying for years.

Hailing from Austin, TX, The Zak Perry Band has been picking up steam throughout the southern and Midwestern states for almost two-years!! Performing Zak Perry’s original songs along with an incredible collection of classic rock and Americana from the 1970’s, the band puts on a high powered show that you have to see to believe. They are a true party band in the 1970’s Southern Rock tradition.

Although often compared to the likes of Government Mule and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Zak Perry’s original music is extremely difficult to classify by genre. A brilliant blending of Rock, Southern Rock, Blues and Country, the band creates a sound that appeals to a very large demographic. Whether your crowd is college age or middle age, a blues, rock or country crowd ... they will stay, grow, and want to know when this great band will be back.

The band consists of St. Charles ( St. Louis ), Missouri native Zak Perry ( Singer, Songwriter, Guitar ), Bridgeton ( St. Louis ), Missouri native Jason Charron ( Drums ) and Austin, Texas Native Scott Ray ( Bass ).
