Michelle Gregoire in the Ottawa Jazz Festival Winter Series

Ottawa Jazz Festival Inc. and L’Alliance Française will present the Ottawa debut of Michelle Grégoire at the National Library and Archives of Canada Friday February 17, 2006 in their 2006 Winter Series. Winnipeg-based pianist and composer Michelle Grégoire embarks on her first Canadian tour with her quintet featuring some of Canada’s most renowned musicians: saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, trumpeter Kevin Turcotte, bassist Jim Vivian, and drummer Ted Warren. They appeared on her debut CD, Reaching, released last year, and recently in Toronto. The inspired and exciting renditions of traditional jazz in Reaching have received excellent reviews and has been a regular feature on CBC’s After Hours (National Jazz Broadcast), making their list of top jazz CDs released in 2004

It also received a nomination for a Western Canadian Music Award as "Outstanding Jazz Recording" alongside such notables as Diana Krall.

Also active in the francophone music scene Michelle acts as musical director for various CBC and TVO radio and television productions such as "Le Chant Ouest", "Le Gala Manitobain de la Chanson", "En Eclosion" and is a houseband member for the TV series "Un air de famille".
