Gary Lucas plays "The Golem"

Friday February 10th at the Rubin Museum of Art, NYC, Gary Lucas plays his original solo guitar score to accompany the German expressionist silent film classic “The Golem” (1920, d. Paul Wegener and Carl Boese. Gary has performed with “The Golem” in 17 countries, most recently selling out the Bristol Watershed Media Centre in the UK, in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, at the Venice Biennale, London's Royal Festival Hall, the New York Jewish Film Festival at Lincoln Center, the Next Festival in Tel Aviv --and in Prague, home of The Golem. The film concerns the 16th century Prague Rabbi Jehudah Loew, who legend has it created a man out of clay through Kabbalistic magic to protect the Jewish community from annihilation.
