The John Wilde Group To Appear at New York's Red Lion

The John Wilde Group, the critically acclaimed British blues and rock band, appearing at the Red Lion in Manhattan on November 1 has just been signed to a multi-album contract by New York's City Canyons Records. The band is currently finishing up a national tour having just completed an extensive swing through the south including Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

The Red Lion appearance is a particularly exciting stop on the tour for the British rockers since they will appear with, and meet for the first time, their new City Canyons label mates Jen Elliott with Bluestruck and Timothy Dark along with some special guest stars, including The Blisstones fronted by Laura Faye.

Styling itself as a record label without borders, the Manhattan based independent label has already signed several international artists including the UK’s ANEMO, whose album “slowburn” was released on September 6, as well as David Steele, also from the UK, and Valerian from Finland whose respective albums “Underneath the Ice” and “Intimations of Sorrow” were released late last year. Also on the City Canyon’s roster are its New York artists, Elliott and Dark and also Sara Wendt. Wendt’s EP, “Here’s Us” is due for release on November 8.

The John Wilde Group combines the edge and excitement of modern alternative rock with song-based, groove infused blues rock with a retro edge comparable to late Beatles (68/69) The Kinks, Humble Pie and Traffic mixed together with a heaping helping of the guitar and rhythm orientated, harmony laden groups of the early 70's.
