Jon Secada Returns with New CD "Same Dream"

Two-time Grammy winner Jon Secada is not only blessed with a soulful voice, but also with an artistry to create, write and produce timeless music. With career album sales of over 20 million units worldwide, Jon is a truly an international superstar who returns to with his latest CD, “Same Dream, ” his debut album for Big3 Records. The CD arrives in stores on Tuesday, October 25, 2005.

Consisting of 11 vital new tracks, the album contains material that will thrill both longtime fans and newcomers alike. The CD is led by the hit single, “Window to My Heart, ” which is already climbing the charts and gaining solid airplay on both Adult Contemporary and Pop stations across the country. Billboard calls the single “Truly one of the great returns of the year, this is timeless pop music, and it provides a vote of confidence for any listener who remembers the days when durability went beyond a paint-by-numbers reggaetón remix of a mediocre composition.”

Other standout tracks include a romantic ballad and the title track, “Same Dream”; a groove track tribute to Hall and Oates entitled “My Baby Don’t Rock Like That, ” a reggatone track entitled “Tender Love, ” and a lush hit ballad Secada fans will love entitled “Last to Know, ” co-written by Jon and Big3 Records Chairman and CEO/producer Bill Edwards. In addition to the 11 new songs, Jon has included versions of two hit songs he’s written for other artists: “She’s All I Ever Had” written for Ricky Martin, and Jon’s first #1 hit co-written with and for Gloria Estefan, “Coming Out of the Dark”. Both songs are included as bonus tracks on the album, marking the first time Jon has recorded these songs for commercial release. In addition, the CD will also include bonus video footage of Jon recording these two tracks in the studio.

"I'm very happy that I found a record company that shares the same vision I do at this point in my career, " Secada said. "I'm very excited.” The consummate songwriter, Secada has co-written 90 percent of this album. He says Same Dream has all of the elements that have influenced him over the years -- from pop to R&B to Latin. He adds the title comes from the truth that even years after numerous successes he still has the “same dream” – the same aspirations and goals he had when he began his career.

Jon began his career as a backup singer and songwriter for the Miami Sound Machine, the vehicle that launched the careers of Gloria Estefan and her husband, Emilio. In 1992 Secada's debut album, "Jon Secada, " sold more than 7 million copies worldwide and his single "Just Another Day, " (written by Secada) became one of the biggest-selling singles of 1992. The single spent 11 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard's Pop Singles chart and topped the charts around the globe. "I was lucky early, " admits Secada. . "It was fortunate that my debut album did as well as it did and I had the opportunity to win a number of awards.” The long list of awards included the two Grammys in 1992 -- for Best Latin Pop Album and for Best New Artist. In 1993 he won the World Music Awards' Best Selling Latin-American Recording Artist. Rolling Stone magazine's Readers Poll in 1993 named him the Best Male Vocalist. Secada is known for his diversity as both a singer and songwriter, pulling from his Latin roots and his love of Jazz, R&B and and Pop.

Over the last few years Secada has spent his time writing and producing hits for such artists as Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, to name a few, and starring on Broadway by storm starring in such hits as Cabaret and Grease.
