Dan Freedman Plans to Tour with Chris Klein

Currently playing the New York music circuit, Dan Freedman now has plans to tour with New Orleans based musician Chris Klein. Klein, currently living in Colorado was forced out of “The Big Easy” due to hurricane Katrina. They plan to embark on a national tour within the next six months.

Originally, the two musicians met in Boulder, CO in 1994 while they were both living there. Chris Klein formed “The Boulevards” a Blues and Swing band and shortly after that Dan Freedman joined the band handling the guitarist role. Currently living in New York, Dan has traveled to New Orleans over the years sitting in with various groups. Recently, he was scheduled to perform again in New Orleans, when the hurricane struck and his plans quickly changed. “Chris and I have had a strong music connection for a long time, so we would like to do a tour together. He also happens to be a close friend of mine which is cool!” Both musicians share a deep driven passion for New Orleans based Jazz and Blues. “I love bands like Galactic, The Funky Meters and John Mooney. They just bring out the funk in everyone who listens!” says Dan Freedman. “Even if you don't like to dance, you find yourself groovin' to the rhythm when you listen to these guys play.”

Most recently in New York, Dan opened up with the Long Island-based jam band Crucial Experiment for “The Jerry Garcia Band” featuring Melvin Seals. “Its a honor to open up for such talents like Melvin Seals and his band. The guys and I in the band were all really excited when we heard the news! I was smiling ear to ear.”
Dan has also opened up for Keller Williams and Jumpin' Johnny Sansone in the past.

Chris Klein born and raised in New Orleans, tackles the role of multi-instrumentalist. He plays the harmonica, the sax and the flute all with equal ability. A natural performer, Klein has made his mark on the New Orleans music scene sitting in with such greats as Dr John and Kermit Ruffins.
Along with being a full time musician, he is also a talented tattoo artist. Hurricane Katrina or not, he is truly proud to be from New Orleans. “I love New Orleans and nothing will change that!” says Chris Klein.

The two musicians have plans to record together, along with doing some benefit shows for hurricane relief. All proceeds will go towards the rebuilding of the city of New Orleans.
