Matt Belzer at Xando, for CD Release of Connections

A rare combination of inventive intelligent colors mixed with impeccable musicianship convey Belzer’s message on his latest release Connections. Belzer has put together a fascinating Quartet featuring long time collaborator Scott Tiemann (drums and cymbals), Drew Waters (bass), and Jon Ozment (piano, synth, electronics).

Belzer exudes creativity with seven original compositions. Belzer’s message ranges from a “Deep Focus” that exhibits flow of propulsion, contrasted by tracks like “Misfit the Second, ” that exhibits deep jagged lines. Belzer continues his diversity on the track “The Station, ” which displays a deeply introspective mood. This multi-faceted approach is why Belzer’s latest release, Connections, is garnering the attention of even the most seasoned jazz critic.

Connections is a release for the hard-core listener that expects superior musicianship and cerebral interaction. Dan McClenaghan of All About Jazz describes Belzer’s release; “First rate jazz outing that walks a line between grooves and freedom. Beautiful!”

Join Belzer and his special guests, Scott Tiemann (drums), Dave Ballou (trumpet), and Michael Formanek (bass) for a night of creative modern jazz, guaranteed to bring about emotional responses and delight to your senses, but do not come expecting the ordinary.
