“Jazz in the Starlight Room” presents The John Bunch Trio

The Hopewell Valley Bistro continues to expand its current jazz programming to include internationally known Jazz pianist, John Bunch. On Saturday, October 22 Mr. Bunch will be joined by Joel Forbes on bass and Tony DiNicola on drums as the John Bunch Trio.

Mr. Bunch has been called “the Fred Astaire of the piano” and can be found swinging tastefully at European festivals and in New York clubs. He has performed in the bands of Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman and the small groups of Zoot Sims/Al Cohn, Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. A musician who is a favorite of other musicians, Bunch was a first-call accompanist for Tony Bennett and plays regularly as co-leader with Bucky Pizzarelli of New York Swing. Mr. Bunch has several recordings under his own name with Concord and Arbors.

Mr. Tony DiNicola, has performed with the Freddy Martin orchestra and was a member of the Harry James Orchestra. He served on the faculty of the College of New Jersey, developing jazz bands and teaching percussion. In 1994, he was honored at the Trenton Jazz Festival for his contribution of music as a musician and educator. Returning to the Bistro for his second appearance will be Mr. Joel Forbes. Joel is an accomplished master of the acoustic bass and has held a place on the New York jazz scene for 20 years.
