Avenue Q Swings! at Birdland

The third season , a series of concerts at Birdland (315 West 44th Street, NYC) featuring top Broadway performers, continues on Monday, October 3 at 7PM with Avenue Q Swings! The series is presented by Jim Caruso, in association with TheaterMania.com.

Following a very special sold-out fundraiser for the Greenwich House Music School in June, we're happy to reprise Avenue Q Swings! The musical extravaganza will feature very special guest stars singing songs from the Tony Award-winning musical, Avenue Q in jazz, classical and other surprising arrangements. At press time, the cast includes Broadway performers Ann Harada, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Sally Mayes, Christine Pedi, and renowned jazz sensation Giselle Jackson. The musical director and arranger of the show will be composer Mary Ann McSweeney, who plays bass each night in the Avenue Q orchestra on Broadway.

The event will be a benefit for the Jazz Foundation of America and the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic , both of which have been helping musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina find temporary and permanent housing, free healthcare and musical instruments.

Birdland has been a world-class music room on the Manhattan nightclub scene since 1949. Jazz superstars Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Dinah Washington, and more recently Ann Hampton Callaway, Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli and Tito Puente have all performed on the Birdland stage. The room offers top-flight music in a world class setting, good sight lines and acoustics, and a menu featuring award-winning Southern cuisine, available until 1am. Most recently, it's become the home of Cast Party , the weekly Monday late night showbiz gathering featuring impromptu performances by the Broadway, jazz and nightclub crème de la crème.
