10th Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival in Los Angeles

This year the Central Avenue Jazz Festival celebrates its 10th Anniversary here in the City of Los Angeles. This two-day event again pays tribute to the rich culture and heritage of the ”Avenue, ” as it was known during its heyday from the 1920s to the 1940s. In addition to some world-class jazz, Latin jazz, and blues, come partake in some great food and browse through stalls of arts and crafts.

To help mark its 10th year, the festival will celebrate the Jazz Legends of Central Avenue—paying tribute to the wealth of creative talent that has arisen from the long history of Jazz on Central Avenue. Jazz greats like Buddy Collette, Clora Bryant, Ernie Andrews, Gerald Wilson, Gerald Wiggins, Jack Costanza, Johnny Otis, Linda Hopkins, Obediah Jessie will be honored during the event. Additionally, Hampton Hawes, Teddy Edwards, and Rev. James Cleveland will be honored posthumously for their contributions to the legacy of Central Avenue.
