Summer Concerts Jazz Up Tunbridge Wells Pantiles

August 2005 starts off an exciting month for entertainment in Tunbridge Wells with the historic Pantiles offering a fantastic free entertainment programme to anyone visiting this famous area of the town. Well known Jazz names will be performing live open air jazz concerts on Thursday evenings, brass bands on selected Sundays.

Visitors can enjoy the free jazz concerts while sitting outside the many cafes, restaurants and bars on this historical site which entertained royalty back in the seventeen hundreds. Visitors can sit back and relax while tapping their toes to the wonderful mix of jazz sound from around the world starting with one of the UK's most popular Jazz acts The Tina May Quartet on Thursday 4 August 2005 between 7.30 pm and 10pm. Tina May is described by critics as one of the best jazz vocalists anywhere today.

The Branco Stoysin Trio will perform on Thursday 11 August between 7.30pm and 10pm. Branco's "formidable trio" has performed at many top venues across the UK including the London Jazz Festival as well as performing on BBC Radio 3's "In Tune" and Sky TV "Arts World" programmes. The trio are described as one of the most lyrical and original guitarists around today whose music will take you on a musical journey which warms the soul.

On Thursday 18 August at the same time, The Clare Hirst Quartet with special guest pianist Hillary Cameron will perform. Clare has written and played on many recordings with artists such as David Bowie, The Communards, Mica Paris, Maxi Priest and Mervyn Africa. The quartet will play a mixture of standards and Clare's original compositions.

The Jazzmode Trio will perform on Thursday 25 August between 7.30 and 10pm with special guest saxophonist Mark Lockheart also performing on the night.
