First Annual Shakedown Festival Moves to Columbia Meadows

Horning’s Hideout Fiasco: 1st Annual Shakedown Festival Moves to Columbia Meadows; Adds 3rd Day Free of Charge! Three day festival featuring Mickey Hart’s “Hydra”, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Galactic, Jerry Joseph, Robert Walters and over a dozen others. Sunday’s artists to be announced shortly.

Stylus Shows Inc. original, 1st annual Shakedown Campout and Music Festival originally slated for August 26-27, 2005 at Horning’s Hideout in North Plains, Oregon has moved venues and expanded the festival to a 3rd day. The 3-day music fest will now officially take place from Aug.26th-28th at Columbia Meadows (located 35 min. North of Portland, OR) with gates opening Thursday, August 25th at 4pm. The now 3-day, end-of-summer weekend festival wraps up the 2005 festival season by featuring over 3 days of performances by well known, national acts such as former Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart’s Band “Hydra”; The world renowned Michael Franti and Spearhead; Jazz impresarios Medeski, Martin, & Wood; Galactic; as well as over 2 dozen other national acts.

Shakedown Promoter Hal Abramson had this to say about the newly formed event, “The last few days have been quite a roller coaster ride, but The Shakedown Fest has landed on solid ground and has severed its contract with Horning’s Hideout. The county has made it clear that they do not want music festivals at Bob Horning’s Farm. They also don’t seem to give a damn about the promoters or the ticket buyers. The county has repeatedly set back Hornings’ Measure 37 hearing to a point now that there cannot be a disposition by the time our event is scheduled. The Shakedown Fest is not interested in this mess. We just want to put on the best damn music festival in the west.”

The new venue, Columbia Meadows, is located off US-30 near the Columbia River in St. Helens, Oregon where Lewis and Clark once rested during their famed travels only 35 mins. North of Portland. The new festival site is more than 100-acres of lush meadowlands nestled up against a hillside of towering evergreens. Abramson noted, “Blackberry bushes smell of their sweet fruit. It's just us, the music and the natural beauty of rural Columbia County.” Columbia Meadows hosted The Van’s Warped Tour this past week and is also slated to host PDX’s KUPL CountryFest and KUFO’s RockFest later this summer.
