Billy Martin Releases Socket on Amulet Records

With raging distortion, polyphonic-cacophony and speaking in tongues, NYCs downtown luminaries lead by Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin and Wood) channel the mad spirits in front of a live audience. Two nights distilled and concentrated into one seriously potent mix of heaven and hell. May these sonic witchdoctors cure what ails, chase the dragons and cast spells on your world.
Socket, produced by Billy Martin, was recorded live to 2 track at Tonic (NYC), January 14-15, 2005. Released on his own label, Amulet Records, Percussionist Billy Martin is always joining forces with diverse talent. This new offering has Martin venturing forward with the accompaniment of Shelley Hirsch: voice, Eyvind Kang: violin, bass, guitar, trumpet, Shazhad Ismaily: bass, guitar, banjo, drums, percussion, melodica, Min Xiao Fen: pipa, voice, Cyro Baptista: percussion, voice, Grant Calvin Weston: drums, percussion, trumpet, Eddie Bobè: congas, and Brian Marsella: melodica.
