Berklee College of Music, ParkARTS, and Fenway Civic Association Present Free Outdoor Jazz Series

Berklee College of Music, the Fenway Civic Association, and ParkARTS present the free outdoor jazz concert series Swingin' In Mothers Rest, in celebration of Boston's 375th anniversary, Wednesdays, July 13, 20, 27, at 6:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Mothers Rest playground is located down the stairs from the Boylston Street bridge, at the intersection of Boylston Street and Fenway, in the Back Bay Fens. Folding chairs and blankets are recommended, and picnic dinners are encouraged. The seventh-annual Swingin' in Mothers Rest is co-sponsored by Piano Forte, Bank of America, and the Mission Hill/Fenway Neighborhood Trust.

The idea of a summer jazz festival here was conceived as a way of bringing people of all ages together to "swing" and experience the art of jazz in the bucolic setting of Olmsted's historic park. "Swingin' in Mothers Rest has grown into a popular summer series enjoyed by music fans of all ages, " said Mayor Thomas M. Menino. "Thanks to the city's partnership with the Fenway Civic Association and Berklee College of Music, we are able to bring another season of top-notch jazz to the Back Bay Fens."
