Summer Concerts in Broxbourne, UK

Broxbourne Council’s outdoor summer music concert series begins on Sunday 10 July with a free world music concert. All of the concerts are held at Cedars park on Sunday afternoons and are free to the public. Those who attend can hire deck chairs and purchase refreshments from the tea room at the park.

The first concert takes place on Sunday 10 July from 3pm-5pm. Ravi, a folk muscian, will perform his unique blend of world music and rhythms on a kora. A kora is an instrument with a leather covered base and 21 strings on two courses and is played with the musician sitting on the ground, similar to a sitar. Ravi has played at the Glastonbury festival, the Hull Jazz festival, the Purcell Room, the British Library and other art centres and festivals around the country.

The second concert features jazz band, ‘Liquorice Allsorts’, on 17 July. This clarinet ensemble plays a mixture of jazz, easy listening and light classical music. This concert will begin at 2.30pm and last until 4.30pm.

On 24 July, the Welwyn Garden City Brass Band will perform in the park. This 28 piece brass band will play between 3pm and 5pm.

Woodworks, a folk music group will perform their ‘Folk Roots’ concert on 31 July. They will play traditional and contemporary songs between 3pm and 5pm.
