| Classic Concerts of the 1970s: The Encores Continue - Book-Signing on June 25th! Danny Trifan (now Daniel Trifan Ph.D & Professor of History at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO) will be joining with author/educator Mark E. Lawhon for a book-signing for Lawhon's new book, "Classic Concerts of the 1970s: The Encores Continue" (Leathers Publishing 2004). This event will be on Saturday, June 25th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at The Record Wearhouse, 1401 South Belt Highway in St. Joseph, MO. Trifan played bass during the '70s with Larry Coryell's Eleventh House (jazz-fusion) Orchestra, David Sanborn, Emir Deodato, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Tom Waites, Manhattan Transfer, and others. Later, Trifan pursued his other passion, history, and ultimately graduated from Duke University with a Master's and then a Ph.D. It was at Missouri Western in 1997 when Trifan met Mark E. Lawhon in a European history class. The two discovered their common link, who was Larry Coryell. Lawhon had photographed Coryell in 1981 at the Lawrence Opera House. Lawhon obtained Coryell's address and mailed duplicates slides to him. Coryell later used Lawhon's pictures for the front and back of his 1993 CD "Bolero" (Evidence). At this point Lawhon had two LPs to his photo-credit accomplishments; one of which was later released as a CD. In 2001, after Lawhon discovered Coryell was playing at the St. Louis Jazz Festival that coming June, he promptly contacted Dr. Trifan, and then got in touch with Coryell to arrange a reunion. The photograph of this 2001 reunion is included herein. Coryell, seated left, is shown grasping hands with Lawhon, the author of "Classic Concerts of the 1970s: The Encores Continue".
