Santana's Summer 2005 'Embrace Your Light' Tour Radiates NYC's Madison Square Garden On June 15

Carlos Santana and the Santana Band's Summer 2005 "Embrace Your Light" tour arrives in New York City for a show at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday evening, June 15th. Earlier in the day, Carlos and Deborah Santana will make a special afternoon appearance at Macy's landmark Herald Square location for a reception and fashion show spotlighting the Carlos By Carlos Santana Shoe Collection. A creative collaboration between the legendary musician and the Brown Shoe Company, the "Carlos" line of high-fashion women's footwear is inspired by Santana's vibrant spirit and artistry, as reflected in the shoe collection's rich colors and materials, unique styling and exciting details.

The first 250 customers who make a Carlos By Carlos Santana shoe purchase at the event beginning today will receive a pass for an exclusive reception with Carlos and Deborah Santana and a special commemorative gift bag. A portion of the proceeds from all sales of "Carlos" footwear benefits the Milagro Foundation, established by Deborah and Carlos in 1998. Milagro (which means Miracle) supports organizations worldwide working with children and youth in the areas of the arts, education and health, and since its inception has granted close to $2 million.

On Thursday, June 16, Carlos' wife and author Deborah Santana--who is enjoying great success on her own with her first book, SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS: My Journey to an Open Heart-will make an appearance with Carlos at Barnes & Noble's Lincoln Center store. The occasion is a special signing of the audiobook version of Deborah's work, published by Random House Audio along with her hardcover edition. Mother of three, activist and manager of the Santana Band, Deborah Santana's memoir is a moving account of her life growing up in a biracial family, her adventures in the free-spirited 1960s, her thirty-two year marriage to Carlos Santana, and her own personal evolution.

Carlos, along with son Salvador, composed the original music accompanying the audiobook edition of SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS, which features three exclusive Santana-penned songs as well as music by Deborah's father, blues pioneer and guitar legend Saunders King. Deborah will also sign the hardcover edition of her acclaimed memoir, published by Random House's One World/Ballantine Books. Barnes & Nobles' Santana event begins at 12:30PM at their store located at 1972 Broadway at 66th Street in Manhattan. Everyone attending the book discussion and signing will also have the chance to win a Paul Reed Smith guitar autographed by Carlos Santana.

The "Embrace Your Light" Tour will also give fans the opportunity to experience the next generation of Santana music with performances by the Salvador Santana Band. Led by Carlos and Deborah Santana's son Salvador, the SSB's fusion of hip-hop, jazz, Latin, rock and R&B will be featured on side stages at some shows and opening on the main stage at other dates including June 14 in Holmdel, NJ and June 19 in Wallingford, CT. In addition to helming the SSB, Salvador also plays keyboards with the Santana Band throughout the tour.

Following the completion of the "Embrace Your Light" Tour, Carlos Santana and the Santana Band's next North American itinerary begins with a September 15 concert in San Jose, California. The date kicks off an almost two-month tour of the western United States also encompassing shows in Canada. Highlights include an October 26th event at Concord, CA's Chronicle Pavilion that will benefit the Milagro Foundation.

Following up his landmark 1999 album Supernatural-now 25X platinum-and 2002's acclaimed Shaman, Carlos Santana will release the 38th album of his extraordinary career, and his third for Arista, later this year. The "Embrace Your Light" Tour features Los Lonely Boys as the opening act (their MSG set time is slated for 7:30PM) with Santana scheduled to take the stage at 9PM. The tour will continue through July 3.
