Laila Biali Gives Benefit Concert and Opens for Diana Krall

Laila Biali, graduate of North Vancouver’s Handsworth Secondary School, returns to the North Shore to lend her continued support to HUGGS Canada. On June 23, 2005, Biali will perform at the HUGGS Canada second annual Benefit Concert. The concert will be held at the North Shore Alliance Church, 201 East 23rd Street in North Vancouver.

At just 24, Biali has been named one of Canada’s fastest rising stars. She will be opening for Diana Krall at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival on June 25 2005 and has just been nominated for Keyboardist of the Year and Composer of the Year for the 2005 National Jazz Awards.

Based in Toronto, this composer, pianist and singer is already making her mark: CBC’s 2003 National Jazz Awards Galaxie Rising Star Prize, Canada Council grant to study with Fred Hersch in New York City and performances at international venues including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
