Cigar Heiress Karyn Uvezian Brings Back "Classy and Sensual" with Jazz-Inspired Debut Album "Thinking of You"

In a time when music seems to be monopolized by pop princesses serving up the same formulated sounds, Karyn Uvezian arrives bringing in fresh flavor to spice up the scene. This spring, 23-year-old Uvezian has made it her mission to introduce young people to the hip sounds of bossa nova and Latin jazz with her debut album, Thinking of You. Throughout the recording, Karyn sings in several languages - English, Spanish, Portuguese - backed by lush horn and string sections, which is a perfect showcase for Karyn's three-octave voice.

“This kind of music can give young people a new kind of intimacy that they don't get with their pop music now,” says Uvezian. “This music is very classy and younger music fans don?t have much of that in pop music. Right now, music for young people consists of raunchy hip-hop beats with all this crazy, sexual imagery going on. But these songs on my record, especially the bossa nova numbers, are classy and sensual at the same time.”

Born in Puerto Rico, Karyn is the daughter of the legendary cigar man and world-renowned jazz musician, Avo Uvezian. The Uvezian name is one of the world's most recognized luxury cigar brands. Owned by Davidoff, the brand continues to sell over 3 million cigars a year around the world. Avo teams up with Karyn on Thinking of You on a handful of beautiful originals, exemplifying a love of jazz that has been passed on, and is now shared, with his daughter.

Opening with the bouncy percussion-driven classic, “Fingers,” the album also includes the Brazilian favorite, “Mas Que Nada,” and features the 1960s worldwide hit made popular by Petula Clark, “Call Me.” There is a Latin version of the Billy Joel classic, “And So It Goes” featuring Billy Joel's longtime drummer Liberty Devitt as well.

Karyn Uvezian's Thinking Of You is a solid collection of songs and performances that not only shows off her vocal prowess, but also stands as a powerful celebration of one of the best-loved styles of jazz.

In all, Thinking of You perfectly sets the young vocalist up to become a musical ambassador on behalf of this diverse style to young people around the world. Karyn Uzevian's Thinking of You will be available this May.
