The recording, which has been garnering high praise abroad, features eleven new compositions from Cohen and is the follow up recording to Razdaz Recordz’s first release, Cohen’s critically acclaimed Lyla. At Home will be released by Sunnyside Records and distributed by RykoDisc in the U.S. Don’t miss Avishai Cohen at The Blue Note, March 10-13, on a double bill with Conrad Herwig/Bran Lynch - Latin Side of Miles band.

Avishai Cohen, a musician who has been called a “jazz visionary of global proportions” by DownBeat, and was declared one of the 100 Most Influential Bass Players of the 20th Century by Bass Player Magazine, has recorded an album of magnificent proportions. At Home reflects on, and celebrates, places, people, emotions and realizations that Cohen has encountered in his many sojourns around the globe, all the while exposing the innermost jubilation and contemplation of the bassist/composer. Stuart Nicholson, commenting on At Home, in Jazzwise Magazine, said “for my money [it’s] the most considered and best realised of all.” Indeed, Cohen exposes his many gifts as a melodic composer, powerful soloist and provoking leader, as never before, reflected in the brilliant performances by the trio and ensemble. Whether in his adopted home of New York City, in his native Israel, or on the road playing this music (where he finds himself much of each year), Avishai Cohen is At Home.

Before graduating William Paterson College in 2003, drummer Mark Guiliana formed a rock band called GADU‚ which included Avishai Cohen. This musical relationship led to Mark's participation as drummer on Cohen’s last two recordings‚ Lyla (which he also co-produced) and At Home. Mark is also drummer and co-founder of The Corrugation, an experimental funk trio with Sam Barsh on organ and Dan Hindman on guitar. The trio plans on releasing its debut album on Avishai Cohen's label RazDaz Recordz in 2005. Mark has traveled around the world, with performances at Carnegie Hall‚ the JVC Jazz Festival in Paris‚ Istanbul Jazz Festival‚ Ronnie Scott's in London and others. He has recorded and performed with Bobby McFerrin‚ the Jazz Mandolin Project‚ James Williams‚ Jason Lindner‚ and more.

Pianist and keyboardist Sam Barsh has been the keyboardist in the Avishai Cohen Trio/ Quartet since 2003. He also co-leads The Corrugation and performs with the Lonnie Plaxico Group and Zach Brock and the Coffee Achievers. Barsh has performed at the 40th Annual Grammy Awards Nominees’ Party, Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, JVC Jazz Festival, Carnegie Recital Hall, Birdland, The Blue Note, The Jazz Standard, and The Knitting Factory and extensively at concert halls, festivals and clubs throughout the world. He has also worked with Cassandra Wilson (2003 Tanglewood Jazz Festival), Bobby McFerrin and Ravi Coltrane.
