The Joint :: The Joint Has Jazz
by Ron Sagye La Rue

Anytime a venue has a slot for Jazz that's a plus. The Joint is such a place. Located on the westside in Los Angeles,8771 W. Pico Blvd. at Robertson;phone 323-467-4702. Originally a rock club now hosting a Reggae format. But with the efforts of Barbara Collin of Collin Artists and the management has reserved Sundays for Jazz.

Collin says: It's the second Sunday we've done it,and I'm going to bring in all kinds of Jazz". That second Sunday featured the Dale Fielder quartet and Kaosz Logic and improvisational Jazz jam group.
that has an unusual line up as its name. Two vocalists,violin,key-
board,electric bass,guitar,drums and a performer on turntable.

The cover is one Alexander Hamilton($10 dollars) and there's no minimum. The kitchen is sparse but you can order a Basket of Fries,
Mini Corn Dogs,,Chicken Tenders and Basket of Onion Rings. But there is full bar for those who chose to imbibe. Furthermore, the booths are comfortable and tables right in front of the very raised stage. Five flat screens around the club show Reggae videos. It would be nice if they could show Jazz videos. Two groups perform one at 7pm and 9pm. This Sunday the 23rd of January Cathy Segal Garcia with the Gary Fukushima trio, and trumpeter Ron McCurdy Jazz Collective featuring vocalists Matt Faulkner, Shamila Guha, Fletcher and Katie Campbell slated to appear at the later show.
