Releasing Sept 12th - Juliet Ewing, Simply ‘S Wonderful (HoneyDiva Music/Lexicon Classics) Drawing on her vast experience of performing Gershwin, Juliet Ewing creates an album of jazz inflected George Gershwin tunes, including much loved songs like “Embraceable You” and “‘S Wonderful” and hidden gems like “Naughty Baby” and “The Lorelei.” Inventive arrangements ranging from Swing and Bossa Nova, to dramatic and lush ballads and a reimagined ethereal version of the classic “Summertime.” Juliet Ewing is backed by a seasoned trio of Ron Drotos, Davd Finck and Mark McLean produced by pianist and arranger Tedd Firth. Juliet Ewing, a former Broadway theater performer, unleashes her passion for jazz. As a vocalist her career has spanned NYC jazz clubs, Broadway stages and international Broadway tours. Growing up in the Midwest, Juliet was exposed to many genres of music and was deeply influenced by the vibrant sounds of Sergio Mendes and Brazil ‘66, the legendary cabaret singer Bobby Short, Ella Fitzgerald, and the iconic Bette Midler. Juliet pursued her musical passion and graduated from The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater. Arriving in New York. Juliet immediately started working in the theater community touring with a Broadway show, appearing on Broadway in the musical FOOTLOOSE and spending an extended time touring Europe and the U.S. in leading roles in Broadway musicals. With an extensive theatrical resume, Juliet worked extensively in the U.S. in National Tours and regional theaters with leading roles in KISS ME KATE, FOOTLOOSE, 42ND STREET, CRAZY FOR YOU as well as concerts of the music of Johnny Mercer, Jerome Kern. She performed in the Irving Berlin theatrical concert “The Melody Lingers On” originating the role of “Juliet” in that show published by “The Rodgers and Hammerstein” company. Juliet developed a particular passion for the music of George and Ira Gershwin, performing a leading role in their hit musical “Crazy for You.” For nearly 300 International performances, Juliet was immersed in the glory of the Gershwin tunes and developed a passion for the Great American Songbook. Continuing her run of Gershwin tunes, Juliet also had the pleasure of performing in San Francisco celebrating Ira Gershwin and was able to delve into more obscure Gershwin tunes as well. This ‘Gershwin Mania’ eventually led her to develop and perform her solo show “Rise Up Singing-The Music of George Gershwin” to sold out audiences in NYC. This culminated in her all-Gershwin album Simply ‘S Wonderful-The Magic of Gershwin set to release September 12, 2025. In a glowing review of this show, Bart Greenberg of Cabaret Scenes (June 2024) magazine praised “the golden voice and fine dramatic skill of diva Juliet Ewing.” He highlighted her unique approach to Gershwin’s “Embraceable You, ” noting, “It was so simple, so genuine. She purred the lyric ‘come to mama, come to mama, do’ in a way that was tender and erotic.” Greenberg also lauded her celebratory take on “Oh, Lady, Be Good, ” which she refashioned as a love song about her relationship with New York: “Oh please have some pity, I’m all alone in this big city.” The review continues... Juliet’s fresh and surprising interpretation of “But Not for Me” was another highlight, where, as Greenberg observed, “She brought an honest and surprising interpretation to the verse...with a lovely bit of snarkiness before the pathos of the chorus.” Mark Dundas of Bistro Awards Magazine (November 2024) wrote “She proved to have just the right mix of innocent mischief, common sense, and elegance.” Juliet’s musical journey has led her to become a regular performer at prestigious venues such as: Jazz on Main, Winnie’s Jazz Bar in New York City, Prohibition NYC, and The Ivy Room. She will make her first appearance at the White Plains Jazz Fest this September to accompany her Gershwin album. Her performances are celebrated for their emotional depth and vocal mastery, earning her acclaim from audiences and critics alike. TRACK, TIMES: 1. S Wonderful 3:09 2.
