A Steinway Artist and pianist of consummate taste and style, Reitan's attack is fast, fluid, and lithe. Torrential runs span the keyboard as his partners power the performance with ample muscularity and invention. The even livelier title track moves at a sprint that finds the pianist soaring across his colleagues' furious groove with authority...The Bounding Line is an inspired and inspiring set, the latter exemplified, among other ways, in the discernment of the cover choices. Rather than pick familiar pieces associated with Brubeck, Jarrett, and Copland, Reitan dug deeper and picked more imaginative compositions to augment his own. On this consistently strong outing, the performances are admirably poised, regardless of whether the trio's delivering an interpretation or giving voice to one of the pianist's own creations."

- Ron Schepper -- Textura

" (****) Album of the week - Quiet and reflective this isn't an album to get the party started mercifully given all the noise out there that provides that role in quantity. So, dear reader, The Bounding Line - because you're worth it."

- Stephen Graham -- Marlbank (UK)

"The trio's work is intense, beautiful, and moving, with even a little fun bounce at times for added flair. Reitan's solo work is at times mesmerizing on these instrumental ballads and waltzes...The Bounding Line offers listeners a consistently gorgeous, soothing sound. The album title refers to thoughts created by English poet and artist William Blake about the beauty of art."
- Tom Henry -- The Toledo Blade

"On his new album, jazz pianist Greg Reitan plays with bassist Jack Daro and drummer Dean Koba. The Path, Summer Days, The Bounding Line, Starting Pointand Rock Hill are by Greg; My Love Is an April Song is by Earl Zindars; Rising Sunis by Dave Brubeck; Love No. 1 is by Keith Jarrett; and Down a Country Lane is by Aaron Copland. All three musicians exhibit enormous sensitivity and skill. And Greg's originals are wonderful. A beautiful introspective album for this time of year."
- Marc Myers -- JazzWax

"The album opens with Reitan's "The Path" in a 3/4 tempo and full of elegance with inspiration from the scenic pathways that connect the Hudson River parks. The number meanders and flows much like the river itself. Earl Zindars' "My Love Is an April Song, " was written for Bill Evans. Reitan gives the ballad an ethereal reading as his economical piano style teases out the composition's numerous connections...The Bounding Line is a testament to the power of artistic immersion and long-standing musical camaraderie."
- Pierre Giroux -- All About Jazz

"The long-standing relationship between the trio is evident in the collaborative interplay on the nine Reitan originals. Whether the tune is a ballad or an up-tempo swinger, a waltz or a march-like beat, Reitan's trademark sprinter-like right hand races up and down the keyboard, spinning a web of well-placed notes that always build from the center of his melodies...The Boundling Line is a nice addition to Reitan's growing discography as a pianist, composer and leader."
- Abe Goldstein -- Papatamus Redux

"Greg Reitan jumped into the scene with an elegant splash in 2009 with his debut recording, Some Other Time (Sunnyside Records). He followed this up in 2010 with Antibes (Sunnyside Records). Both recordings were critically lauded, drawing comparisons to the work of legendary pianist Bill Evans. Reitan possesses a supple Evans-esque touch, with lots of sparkling single note runs sprinkled into his sound...Saving the loveliest for last, Reitan presents, fittingly, the Aaron Copland gem, "Down A Country Lane, " a tune for with, perhaps, the common man in mind—serene, sacred and at the same time of this earth, a beautiful thank you to the Copland House Foundation's generosity."
- Dan McClenaghan -- All About Jazz
