FUSION QUARTET CITY OF FOUR ANNOUNCES “NEW VISTAS” TOUR Boston’s original jazz fusion quartet, City of Four, embarks on its “New Vistas” tour this April, with stops in Western MA, NYC, Eastern PA, CT, and RI. The band will be performing music from its recent album Vistas (2024) alongside new compositions, reinterpretations of past repertoire, and spontaneous improvisations. City of Four’s sound has caught the attention of audiences in jazz, fusion, funk, jam band, and other musical circles. The band’s core mission is to create new instrumental music for today inspired by the energy and tradition of jazz. This tour is made possible with the support of Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Performance Dates: Thursday, April 24, 2025: Marigold Theater (Easthampton, MA) - 8:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025: Silvana (NYC) - 10:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2025: John & Peter’s Place (New Hope, PA) - 9:30 PM Sunday, April 27, 2025: The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center (Middletown, CT) - 5:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2025: Red Door (Providence, RI) - 7:00 PM City of Four is: Mike Caudill (saxophone, EWI) Cat Tremblay (keyboards) Eric Falter (bass) Steve Wilkinson (drums) About City of Four: City of Four’s original brand of groove-based jazz fusion has been called a “cornucopia of jazz melodies, ” (The Big Takeover) where “each member brings something unique to the table.” (Stamish Malcuss, Jazz Sensibilities) The music collective equally features the original compositions and improvisations of its four members in an electrified instrumental jazz combo format, merging modern jazz, funk, jazz-rock fusion, hip hop, and progressive rock. “When the jazz, funk and progressive styles come together it can be a beautiful thing.” (Rob Duguay, Rock n’Heavy) In addition to playing and writing for City of Four, Mike Caudill leads his own acoustic quartet and performs with many regional bands and jazz collectives, including with Guggenheim fellow Felipe Salles’ Interconnections Ensemble, which has released three critically acclaimed albums. Some of Mike's original music for City of Four has garnered awards from ASCAP and MIX Magazine. Cat Tremblay (aka Catman) is a composer of experimental jazz/rock/funk music, a prolific producer of hip hop and electronic music, and a jazz-trained pianist. In addition to his work with City of Four, Cat is the live keyboardist and musical director for rapper/producer Latrell James. He also performs with the group Foreign Movie, a jazz fusion project that leans heavily into funk and dance music. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Eric Falter has studied with world-renowned educators and Grammy award-winning artists including John Patitucci, Jon Finn, Oscar Stagnaro, Jim Stinnett, and Bruce Gertz. An avid player in the Boston music scene, Eric can be found playing in many different musical settings, including with Steve Wilkinson in progressive rock/jazz fusion band LON. In addition to City of Four, Steve drums for a variety of bands including LON, Strange Changes, Tom Dowd Group, and RetroCard. He has performed all around the US and Canada in a wide variety of contexts, including work with Latin Grammy winner Nella Rojas of Venezuela, country singer and NBC’s The Voice finalist Kristen Merlin of Nashville, and renowned singer Jaasiel Sança of Cape Verde. |
