Dan Moretti & Brazilia, Live at the Pump House Music Works (Jan 31st) The album features a stellar lineup of musicians, including Latin Jazz Grammy winner Oscar Stagnaro from Peru on bass, Maxim Lubarsky from Ukraine on piano, Ernesto Diaz from Columbia on percussion, and Steve Langone from Boston on drums. Together, they deliver a masterful reinterpretation of some of Wayne Shorter’s most iconic pieces, infusing them with fresh energy and rhythmic flair. Listeners can expect innovative arrangements such as “Black Nile” reimagined as a mambo, “Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum” transformed into a cha-cha-cha, and “Witch Hunt” given a Latin twist. The ensemble also offers a samba rendition of “Speak No Evil” and surprises the audience with a reggae-infused take on “Night Dreamer, ” among other inventive interpretations including Night Dreamer as Reggae and Oriental Folk Song as 6/8 and “Yes or No” in 7 with a high energy, Caludio Roditi version of “Footprints.” Recorded live at the historic Pump House Music Works in Peace Dale Rhode Island the album will act as a fundraiser for this non-profit music and arts venue. The album captures the spontaneous creativity and electric atmosphere of the performance. Moretti’s saxophone work at the forefront, weaves intricate melodies and improvisations that honor Shorter’s legacy while exploring new sonic landscapes. The infectious groove generated by master bass player Oscar Stagnaro, percussionist Ernesto Diaz, and drummer Steve Langone are complemented by Maxim Lubarsky’s relentless piano performances. All the band members have featured space capturing the spirit of the live latin- jazz performance.
