Based on the mixed emotions felt at the metro station near where Alexis Valet stayed in New York, Myrtle Avenue, the album’s closing track, "Myrtle", with its razor-sharp swing and fearless tempo, is emblematic of all the hopes and all the dangers of urban life. Alexis Valet spent unforgettable nights in the jazz club Ornithology, located between Bed-Stuy and Bushwick in Brooklyn. While the rhythm section walks on hot coals, the soloists—Alexis Valet on vibes, Dayna Stephens on tenor and Aaron Parks on piano—surpass themselves, each more dazzling than the other.
