Out today! Gustavo Cortiñas - Live in Chicago Presenting a lineup of names that may not immediately ring bells for European listeners, revered drummer Gustavo Cortiñas offers fresh, original music that was, as the title suggests, recorded live in Chicago in December 2022. A snapshot of Cortiñas’ musical journey, Live In Chicago introduces European audiences to some of the best players on the Midwestern scene, including trumpeter Drew Hansen, renowned saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and educator Artie Black, trombonist Matthew Davis, bassist and composer Kitt Lyles, and pianist Joaquin Garcia. Driven by the drummer and band leader’s unique style and sound, Live in Chicago is followed by 2021’s critically acclaimed Desafío Candente. “I believe that it is a rite of passage for any jazz artist to put out a live record”, Cortiñas explains.
