Live From Van Gelder Studio - this Saturday! Final Days for Tickets to the next Live from Van Gelder Studio concert May 15th & 16th This time, we’re featuring the historic Van Gelder Studio Organ. The very instrument that has been heard on countless recordings by Jimmy Smith, Ray Charles, Larry Young, Shirley Scott, Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff, Dr. Lonnie Smith and many more. Having such an important instrument means we gotta have a special group…and we do. Joey DeFrancesco, who first recorded on the studio organ while still in his teens, is particularly known for his role in the revival of the Hammond organ sound. Joining DeFrancesco is jazz legend, drummer Billy Hart, guitarist Peter Bernstein and special guest appearance by tenor saxophone icon Houston Person. This all-star group will be playing tunes from classic organ albums and sharing their stories of the music and the studio. Audiences will get a look behind the scenes at this historic location.
