Shrapnel Games Celebrates Year Eight

As the 20th century began to draw to a close the world of computer gaming, enjoying a popularity previously unheard of, had started a transformation. In the new, corporate driven world of PC gaming innovative craftsmen were replaced by generic East European code teams, bleeding edge graphics trumped artistic expression, and entire genres that didn't fit in with the new marketing buzzwords were excised. For gamers who had grown up loving games for what they offered, and not because they were the fad-of-the-week, it was the beginning of a dark time.

Eight years ago to this day the darkness was pierced. Tim Brooks, designer of such titles as Wages of War (New Worlds Computing/3DO), Soldiers at War (SSI), and the best selling and critically acclaimed, 101st: The Airborne Invasion of Normandy (Empire Interactive), challenged the mainstream groupthink that computer gaming had become and unleashed Shrapnel Games onto the world. With an initial focus on his love for wargaming, Shrapnel Games soon expanded to delivering gamers the best gaming in the
genres that the "big" guys had forsaken.

In the past eight years fans and pundits around the globe have enjoyed the offerings of Shrapnel Games, and Shrapnel Games has stayed true to its vision of offering unique games in a multitude of genres. A wonderful community of enthusiastic gamers has been with us since the beginning, and for our eighth year in business we want to thank everyone who has made our continuing success possible.

In the best tradition of cheesy car dealership ads Shrapnel Games just wants to say it may be our anniversary, but you're the ones receiving the presents! As a thank you to all past, present, and future fans, we are having a sale on all currently available (sorry, no pre- order titles) games in our catalog.
