So How Do Consumers REALLY Feel about the New Xbox 360 Elite?

Since the news and the first photos of the Xbox 360 Elite have been unveiled, there have been thousands of articles and stories done on the system in the media. Has that buzz positively influenced the gamers themselves? Unfortunately for Microsoft, according to the data pulled from BrandIntel, it appears that the Xbox 360 Elite is landing with more questions and frustration than excitement. Although the intent to purchase the system is still surprisingly high.

Since the unveiling of the Xbox 360 Elite a few days ago, and as part of the ongoing analysis of the online gaming world (bloggers, forums, web sites, etc.), BrandIntel has found a fairly negative view of the Xbox 360 Elite. Through research this week, BrandIntel has found:
- Overall sentiment for the Xbox 360 Elite is negative, and is currently below the positive sentiment garnered by the Wii and the PlayStation 3. Although perception of the system is negative, the intent to purchase an Xbox 360 Elite is still positive (with 48 percent of gamers who made statements regarding purchasing suggesting that they would purchase a system).
- Many gamers do not perceive value in purchasing an Xbox 360 Elite, and do not feel the addition of HD capabilities and a 120 GB hard drive is worth the new price tag. The lack of value for the Elite generated 18 percent of the discussion of the Elite, a substantial number.
- There is a good deal of frustration from current Xbox 360 owners regarding the timing of the product.
- The Xbox 360 Elite's HD features and additional hard drive capacity only generated 7 percent of the discussion each, with that discussion being very evenly split in favor or against the features.
